Résumé:
In 2010, the international congress ‘Architecture: More for Less’ was held in Pamplona. Its aim was to take stock of the changing mood in architecture, which today faces huge ecological and economic challenges. This publication is a record of the event through the interviews conducted by five prominent critics – Richard Ingersoll, Antón García-Abril, Estrella de Diego, Vicente Verdú and Llàtzer Moix – with the participants, among them Renzo Piano, Anne Lacaton, Carlos Jiménez, Mark Wigley, Slavoj Žižek and Glenn Murcutt, who themselves cover a broad generational and geographic spectrum. Through the lens of architecture, it offers a kaleidoscopic portrait of our time.

Résumé:
''Architecture and Modern Life'' is a collection of essays by influential architect and educator W. R. Lethaby (1857–1931). In these writings, Lethaby foreshadows Le Corbusier and marks a fascinating transitional point between 19th- and 20th-century architectural thought. With radical foresight, he argues for an “efficiency style” in architecture, for towns that cultivate vitality, and against the science of “profit grinding and grabbing.” Often eerily prescient, phrases such as “there is a culture war going forward” and “There is much talk of Housing at the present time, but it is a case of much talk and little house” could be taken from today’s newspapers. The profound importance of these texts lies in Lethaby’s vision of art and design grounded not in style-novelty or aesthetic theory (“the mystification of architecture”) but in “some reality like health, serviceableness, or even perfect cheapness.”

Résumé:
More than a decade in the making, this is a textbook of architecture rich with design techniques and useful for every architect whether a first-year students or experienced practicing architects. The book teaches the reader how to design by adapting to human needs and sensibilities, yet independently of any particular style. It explains much of what people instinctively know about architecture, and puts that knowledge for the first time in a concise, understandable form. There has not been such a book treating the very essence of architecture.

Résumé:
In the discussion of architecture, the prevailing sentiment of the past three decades has been that cultural production can no longer be understood to arise spontaneously, as a matter of social course, but is constructed through ever more self-conscious theoretical procedures. The development of interpretive modes of various stripes--poststructuralist, Marxian, phenomenological, psychoanalytic, as well as others dissenting or eccentric--has given scholars a range of tools for rethinking architecture in relation to other fields and for reasserting architecture's general importance in intellectual discourse. This long-awaited anthology is in some sense a sequel to Joan Ockman's "Architecture Culture 1943-1968, A Documentary Anthology" (1993). It presents forty-seven of the primary texts of contemporary architecture theory, introducing each by detailing the concepts and categories necessary for its understanding and evaluation. It also presents twelve documents of projects or events that had major theoretical repercussions for the period. Several of the essays appear here in English for the first time.

Résumé:
"Architecture of the real" is a book about both architectural design and photography. Architectural design because it focuses on the work of twelve practices and turns a critical eye on contemporary French production. Photography because it presents atypical images made by photographers who are active in contemporary art, and who propose a new realist view of archtiecture - since the buildings are photographed in their inhabited state and everyday context.
