À travers les dix-huit essais réunis ici Aicher revient sur ses expériences pédagogiques et distingue avec précision l’école d’Ulm du Bauhaus. Il salue le travail de fameux architectes (Foster et Piano notamment) et confrères, designers «?moralistes?» dans le bon sens du terme, tels Hans Gugelot et Charles Eames. Enfin, il dessine les contours d’une pratique créative, le design graphique, dont l’éthique défie les cloisonnements disciplinaires établis.
