Description:
File documents unexecuted modifications to an exterior swimming pool area for a hotel located in Firth of Forth, Scotland. The hotel burned down before the construction could begin (Shubert, with Price). Conceptual sketches show a design for a structure to cover the pool. The proposed programme for the project states that: "An outdoors swimming pool is a source of voluntary delight. Being outside is a particular quality which must not be lost through misapplied protection. In all cases this unique element of glamour related to site, season, time of day and occupancy must be exploited." Photographs document the existing site and structures. Material in this file was produced in 1975. Joe Lyons, of Lyons catering and teahouse businesses, was also the client for O.C.H. Feasibility Study (AP144.S2.D59) and Blackpool Project (AP144.S2.D81). Frederick Salmon, of Salmon and Gluckstein, owned Lyons' businesses and was the client representative for Scotswim, O.C.H. Feasibility Study, and Blackpool Project (Shubert, with Price, 1996). Information on attribution based on the content of the file and on notes by Howard Shubert, CCA Curator of Prints and Drawings, in conversation with Cedric Price. File contains conceptual drawings.

Description:
This project series documents the master plan for the CN Railways properties in Toronto in 1976. The office identified the project number as 7615. During this time, Parkin Architects Planners were developing a number of projects in downtown Toronto, in the CN Tower area. This project appears to consist of the master planning for a number of those projects, which were directly or closely associated with CN Railways due to their proximity to the train yards. The majority of drawings for this project show site plans of the area, which include buildings such as the Ontario Congress and Trade Centre, an office building at the corners of York and Front Streets, the CN Telecommunications building, and a pedestrian mall above Station Street. The pedestrian mall is the focus of sections and presentation drawings included in the materials. These include presentation boards of drawings of the pedestrian mall, which was connected to Union Station at the corners of Front and Bay Streets. These records date from1976 to around 1978. The drawings refer to the project as Walker House Hotel, a historic hotel located on the corners of Front and York Streets, which would be demolished in order to accommodate these projects.

Description:
This project series documents the design of the Broadcast Centre Development on Front Street in Toronto in 1989. The office identified the project number as 8910. This project, commissioned by Graywood Developments Ltd., consisted of a mixed-use development located on the property directly east of the new CBC headquarters. This project was also referred to as the CBC/Graywood Development in the documentation and was an entry for a site development competition. The project proposed a mixed low-rise and high-rise tower that would contain a hotel and condominiums. The hotel would comprise the first six floors, creating a base for the tower, which would hold residential properties above the eighth floor recreation centre. A triple-height club lounge was proposed at the 43rd floor, visually separating the lower tower from the penthouses above it. These penthouses would be set back from the levels below with a long, pointed tower extending above them to complete the top of the building. This project was never built. The project is recorded through drawings, presentation paintings, a model and photographs of the model dating from 1988-1989. The drawings consist of site surveys, sketches, elevations, sections, plans, perspectives, axonometric drawings and presentation drawings
