The project series documents the design for a residential tower for youth in the district of Sant Andreu, Barcelona. The design was for the account of the City Council and the Patronat Municipal de l'Habitatge. The promoter REGESA, Societat Urbanística Metropolitana Rehabilitació i Gestió, worked with Abalos & Herreros for this project that was never built. The project site was located between the streets Ferran Junoy, Tucuman and Borredà, nearby the shopping center La Maquinista. The firm identified this project as number 152. Records document first and second iterations of the design for the tower, primarily differentiated by the base of the building. The first design includes a rectangular base. The firm identified this iteration of the project as number 152-1. The second design of the tower includes a triangular base for the building. The firm identified this iteration as number 152-2. This project series documents the design and construction of the Hamilton Trade Centre and Arena in Hamilton, Ontario from 1982-1985. The office identified the project number as 8207. The project consisted of a 60,000 square foot exhibition hall and arena, which had a capacity of 18,000. Opening in November 1985, the building was designed to host sports events (primarily hockey) and concerts. The project was reported to have cost $42 million. Along with Parkin Partnership as the architecture firm, John C. Parkin’s engineering company Parkin Engineers Ltd. worked as structural engineers on the project. The building, commissioned by the city of Hamilton, was officially called Copps Coliseum after the former Hamilton mayor, Victor Copps, who pushed for its creation throughout his career. In 2014, the name was changed to FirstOntario Centre. The project is recorded through reprographic copies of construction drawings, research, construction and presentation photographs, and textual records dating from 1982-1987. The textual records show design research, client correspondence, contractor work, specifications, publicity, and financial records. Any original drawings for this project are arranged within the textual records.

The project series documents the commission, design, and construction of the Gordillo studio, neighbouring the client’s house (AP164.S1.1993.D2) on Castilla de Ponferrada Street, in Villanueva de la Cañada, Community of Madrid, Spain. The firm identified this project as number 119. “The Gordillo Studio is a prismatic, serrated volume that occupies the plot’s only available strip of land and minimizes its presence through the use of two materials, translucent polycarbonate and xerophilous plantings, which seek the best adaptation to the site, the program and the client. Using this system, a semi-buried interior is constructed in which the light has been modeled as a solid, expansive material, the aim being to satisfy not only the specific demands of the work space but also the creation of an agreeable atmosphere, as austere as it is sensual.” (ARCH270975) Abalos & Herreros worked with Ángel Jaramillo Sanchez, María Auxiliadora Gálvez, Renata Sentkiewicz, Juan Gómez, Fernando Valero and José Torras. In 2002, the project won the COAM 2000 prize. Documenting this project are conceptual, design development and working drawings, photographic and reference materials, correspondence, notes, budgets, reports, studies, forms, project descriptions, invoices, certifications and trade catalogues.

This project series documents the master plan for the CN Railways properties in Toronto in 1976. The office identified the project number as 7615. During this time, Parkin Architects Planners were developing a number of projects in downtown Toronto, in the CN Tower area. This project appears to consist of the master planning for a number of those projects, which were directly or closely associated with CN Railways due to their proximity to the train yards. The majority of drawings for this project show site plans of the area, which include buildings such as the Ontario Congress and Trade Centre, an office building at the corners of York and Front Streets, the CN Telecommunications building, and a pedestrian mall above Station Street. The pedestrian mall is the focus of sections and presentation drawings included in the materials. These include presentation boards of drawings of the pedestrian mall, which was connected to Union Station at the corners of Front and Bay Streets. These records date from1976 to around 1978. The drawings refer to the project as Walker House Hotel, a historic hotel located on the corners of Front and York Streets, which would be demolished in order to accommodate these projects.
