Résumé:
Between 2010 and 2020, Caruso St John expanded its reputation for sensitive and characterful architecture through a remarkable range of projects. Major buildings in the heart of Swiss, German, and Belgian cities explored the role urban landmarks can play in the present day, while smaller domestic projects provided the opportunity for experiments in restoration, materials, and colour. Transforming buildings for reuse – from beloved public institutions to longabandoned industrial sites – became a focal point for the practice as it sought to emphasise its work with the existing rather than contribute to the escalating production of new construction. Their designs for memorials, exhibitions, and museums further developed this engagement with memory and an aliveness to the past.

Centered on the Al Ahsa region, one of the world's oldest and largest oases, "Maghras: A farm for experimentation" (accompanying the inaugural Saudi Pavilion at the 24th Triennale di Milano, marking Saudi Arabia's first participation in this global architecture and design platform) reimagines the farm as a site of collective inquiry, where environmental change, cultural memory, and community practices converge. The publication documents research, fieldwork, and newly commissioned projects by architects, artists, and practitioners who engaged with farmers, craftspeople, and residents of Al Ahsa. Through essays, images, oral histories, and archival material, it reflects on the shifting relationship between land, water, and community in a landscape transformed by modernization and urban expansion.

Lukin Linklater draws upon documentary poetics, concrete-based installations, event scores, and other texts composed in relation to performances written between 2011 and 2018. The book cites memory, Cree and Alutiiq languages, and embodiment as modes of relational being and knowledge. The book unfolds a poetics of relation and action to counter the settler colonial violences of erasure, extraction, and dispossession. ''Slow scrape'' can be read alongside Lukin Linklater’s practice as a visual artist and choreographer. ''Slow scrape'' includes an introduction by Layli Long Soldier, as well as a dialogue between Lukin Linklater and editor Michael Nardone.

Résumé:
'Human zoos', forgotten symbols of the colonial era, have been totally repressed in our collective memory. In these 'anthropo-zoological' exhibitions, 'exotic' individuals were placed alongside wild beasts and presented behind bars or in enclosures. Human zoos were a key factor, however, in the progressive shift in the West from scientific to popular racism."Human Zoos" puts into perspective the 'spectacularization' of the other, a process that is at the origin of contemporary stereotypes and of the construction of our own identities. This is a unique book, on a crucial phenomenon, which takes us to the heart of Western fantasies, and allows us to understand the genesis of identity in Japan, Europe and North America.

Résumé:
Through interdisciplinary approaches, this series explores and connects the changing realities of rural landscapes and communities around the world. Tucked inside the covers of this slim volume is a conversation—a chorus, a round. It takes place between the contributions, across a territory of blacktop, botany, and biography. It is as much a call and response between the writers and you, dear reader, as it is between what lays before us on that open road and what lies behind in the dust. In these pages we find ourselves caught between the ambiguous future of the title and—not the past—the artifacts of memory. This is the indefinite space of the future, the rural, and the archive.

Résumé:
From early portraits of her five sisters, to photos taken above bookshelves and under beds, and later series on the New York City subway, Moyra Davey has spent four decades developing a practice that comprises photography, film and writing. This book surveys Davey's work, bringing together her photos and film stills, and her writings on photography, memory, art and historical figures, alongside a suite of new essays and interviews. These are some of the figures that haunt her imagery: Walter Benjamin, Mary Wollstonecraft, Jean Genet and Chantal Ackerman. As with her photographic accumulations of fragments, Davey approaches these touchstones indirectly, drawing from their letters, journals and less celebrated works to understand how they committed to living creative lives.

Résumé:
This book provides a comprehensive overview of the fabric works from the last two decades in the career of artist Louise Bourgeois. This body of work began when the artist started incorporating clothes from all stages of her life into her art, and later expanded to include a range of other textiles such as bed linen, handkerchiefs, tapestry, and needlepoint. The fabric works mine the themes of identity and sexuality, trauma and memory, guilt and reparation, and serve as metaphors for emotional and psychological states. The catalogue – which accompanies the exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, London, and the Gropius Bau, Berlin – features works from numerous series, including the monumental Cell installations, figurative sculptures, and abstract drawings.

Résumé:
Thombu was a term used by the Dutch to describe a public land registry. The Incomplete Thombu poses as a bureaucratic document file and covers the subject of Tamil displacement during the civil conflict in Sri Lanka between 1983 and 2009. Though numerous documents of statistical data have recorded the displacement of civilians, few have highlighted the personal plights of those involved. This project records the stories of civilians removed from their homes and the memories that they took with them. T. Shanaathanan examines the subject of displacement through a series of drawings that overlay ground plans of houses drawn from memory by displaced Tamil-speaking civilians, with architect’s renderings and dry pastel drawings.

Résumé:
During the 1960s and 70s, thousands of monuments commemorating the Second World War – called 'Spomeniks' – were built throughout the former Yugoslavia; striking monumental sculptures, with an angular geometry echoing the shapes of flowers, crystals, and macro-views of viruses or DNA. In the 1980s the Spomeniks still attracted millions of visitors from the Eastern bloc; today they are largely neglected and unknown, their symbolism lost and unwanted. Antwerp-based photographer Jan Kempenaers travelled the Balkans photographing these eerie objects, presented in this book as a powerful typological series. The beauty and mystery of the isolated, crumbling Spomeniks informs Kempenaer's enquiry into memory, found beauty, and whether former monuments can function as pure sculpture.
