Series AP178.S2 consists of over 280 of Siza’s personal sketchbooks, beginning from the late 1970s to the beginning of the early 2000s. The sketchbooks mostly contain sketches with some notes and are numbered chronologically. Indicated on the front cover of each sketchbook are the sketchbook number and the architectural project(s) and/or the geographic site(s) documented by the sketches and notes. The sketchbooks are mostly black notebooks and measure 21 x 30 cm, with a few exceptions. Most sketchbooks contain notes in Portuguese while some also include French and English notes. The sketchbooks document Siza’s creative process and demonstrate his unique method to comprehend an architectural project. Siza mentions that in the early stages of a project he immediately begins to draw, regardless of if he has knowledge of all the details and problems. The sketchbooks document the evolution of Siza's projects and also serve as a type of log. Not only does each sketchbook contain various sketches and notes for projects Siza was working on but also schedules, contacts, and drafts of letters. Among the sketches for projects are also general sketches of his travels, people, animals, objects, furniture, and at times landscapes. Most sketchbooks primarily contain sketches for projects with intermingled sketches of people or faces, however there are a number of sketchbooks that mostly contain sketches of people. The Siza fonds is being processed in four phases. Up to date the sketchbooks that have been processed are ones that relate to architectural projects that were processed in the first and second phase of processing. This includes projects from 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s; urban planning projects; Reconstrução do Chiado; Berlin projects submitted to the IBA competition; and the Plano de urbanização Deelgebied 5 Schilderswijk-West in The Hague. However, it is important to note that the sketchbooks usually contain sketches related to multiple projects and therefore the sketchbooks that were processed also contain sketches related to projects not included in this list.

Papers include a travel journal, invoices and receipts, postcards, travel guides and brochures, maps, itineraries, correspondence, and documents on Danish architecture. FIles ARCH21945-ARCH219061 are documents mostly concerning Goldsmith's vacation trips in the United States. Material includes travel brochures, guide books, maps, postcards and various ephemera. Travel journals from visits to Fripp Island, Harvard, Newport R.I., New York and Washington in 1982 include sketches and calculations of bridges. Some files include colour photographs - a trip to Washington D.C. has large prints of SOM buildings, and a file on the artist Christo includes information and photos of his Umbrella Project in Bakersfield, California. Other destinations include Vermont, Delaware, New Mexico, Michigan and Wisconsin. Two files document a 1993 trip to Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland and include correspondence and itineraries.

- This album contains studies by Charles Rohault de Fleury of the five classical orders. The majority of the drawings are from his student years at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (1822-1825). Others are from his student years at the Ecole Polytechnique (1820-1822), or drawings executed while he was a practicing architect (after 1825). Although the drawings are not physically organized into categories within the album, they can be divided into three groups according to their architectural sources: paradigmatic examples taken from named monuments of Greek and Roman architecture, examples taken from unnamed architectural monuments or treatises, and examples after 16th century Italian and French interpretors of the classical tradition, such as Palladio, Serlio, Vignola and Delorme. The only exception to these categories is the drawing of the "soubassement" for the pavilions of the Louvre (DR1974:0002:021:032 R/V). Most of the drawings focus on the proportions of the orders, their disposition within the portico in terms of intercolumnar spacing and number of columns, and the proper moulding and ornamentation particular to each order. This album also contains four etchings of similar subject matter by Gaitte, Stévigny, Piranesi, and an unknown early 19th century etcher.

The names of the museum's patrons and the parts of the museum have been inserted by a contemporary hand on the lithographs in pen and black ink. The text is followed by ten lithographs, including a perspectival view of the museum, four general plans, two sections, and more detailed sections, plans and elevations of the Tribuna de Galileo designed by Giuseppe Martelli and the Osservatorio Astronomico designed by Gaspero Paoletti. Also included in the album are four manuscripts, all in French: a letter presenting the album to Rohault de Fleury from Vincenzio Antinori, the director of the museum, a transcript of Rohault de Fleury's letters of thanks to Antorini and to the Grand Duke of Tuscany, a note from the Légation de Toscanne in Paris concerning the presentation of the album, and a booklet containing Rohault de Fleury's translation of the album text into French.

- The two halves of this drawing show alternate stage sets from which the patron could make his choice. It is unclear whether this design was for a painted trompe-l'oeil stage backdrop and/or a constructed stage set. The deep unified space of the architectural interior and low vanishing point of the central landscape indicates that this part of the drawing is probably intended to be a painted trompe-l'oeil, however, the inscribed scale suggests that some of the architectural elements may have been constructed (Fuhring, 161 and 570). The prickings indicate that the overall design was intended to be executed. A crown above the central cartouche in drawing DR1967:0010:002 which is probably by the same hand, indicates a possible royal connection.
