AP018.S1.1974.PR16
Description:
This project series documents renovations to the Ontario Association of Architects headquarters in Toronto from 1974-1978. The office identified the project number as 7420. This project consisted of renovations to the heating, air conditioning and lighting systems of the office building. The project also investigated an expansion of the building within its current perimeter, stating a horizontal expansion would be too expensive due to the poor condition of the surrounding ground. A third floor addition to the three-level building was recommended. The headquarters had been designed by John C. Parkin's previous firm, John B. Parkin Associates, in the 1950s and was located at 50 Park Road. The project is recorded through textual records and reprographic copies of drawings dating from 1973-1978. The drawings are all arranged within the textual materials, which consist of containing correspondence, interoffice memos, supplementary instructions, change orders, certificates of payment, inspection and conference reports, contract documents and a feasibility study. Box AP018.S1.1974.PR16.001 contains an index to the textual records, which was created by the office.

Description:
This project series documents the construction of the Toronto-Dominion Bank Building in Toronto in1962. The office identified the project number as 6280. This project consisted of a 56 storey, black steel skyscraper that came to exemplify the age of modernist architecture in Toronto through the introduction of the International Style to the older cityscape. The design of the Toronto-Dominion Bank Centre is almost wholly credited to architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. However, John B. Parkin Associates, in joint venture with architecture firm Bregman + Hamann, were the primary architects on the project, with van der Rohe acting as consulting architect. During this era, the Toronto-Dominion Centre included three buildings - two office towers and a single level banking pavilion which was about two-storeys in height. It appears that this project consisted only of the tallest tower, now known as TD Tower, and that the other buildings were completed under different project numbers assigned by the office. The project is recorded through reprographic copies of construction drawings dating from 1966-1968.

AP178.S1.1967.PR02
Description:
This project series documents the Monumento ao poeta António Nobre in Leça de Palmeira, Portugal. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 27/60; in the past the office identified the project as number 117. The office assigned the date 1967 to this project. The project consisted of a sculpture located near the Boa Nova Tea house. The monument was a collaboration between Álvaro Siza and sculptor Barata Feyo. The bronze sculpture included feminine figures and poet António Nobre. It is important to note that another monument for António Nobre was built by Siza in 1980 (see project series AP178.S1.1980.PR04 in this fonds). Documenting this project are sketches, studies, topographic surveys, plans, drawings of lettering and details. Photographs, negatives, and slides document the site, model, inauguration and sculpture. Textual documentation includes a building program, notes and correspondence with the city of Matosinhos.
