124 minutes, color stereo in french with english subtitles. In Play Time, Tati's character, M. Hulot, and a group of American tourists attempt to navigate a futuristic Paris constructed of straight lines, modernist glass and steel high-rise buildings, multi-lane roadways, and cold, artificial furnishings. In this environment, only the irrepressible nonconformity of human nature and an occasional appreciation for the good old days breathe life into an otherwise sterile urban lifestyle. Modern industrial technologies, accepted as necessary by society, are represented by Tati as obstructions to daily life and an interference to natural human interaction.

In Immemory, Marker uses the format of the CD-ROM to create a multilayered, multimedia memoir. The reader investigates “zones” of travel, war, cinema and poetry, navigating through photographs, film clips, music and text, as if physically exploring Marker’s memory itself. The result is a veritable twenty-first century Remembrance of Things Past, an exploration of the state of memory in our digital era. With it, Marker has both invented a literary form and perfected it. System Requirements: Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, including 10.5 Leopard.

Résumé:
When William Thorsell assumes command of Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum, he moves quickly to rejuvenate the beloved building on Bloor Street. As former editor of one of Canada's leading newspapers, Thorsell envisions an iconic public building— a bold gesture that will inject a shot of architectural amphetamine into the staid and sensible veins of Canada's biggest burg. Who to trust with such a venture? Enter Daniel Libeskind. More than a celebrity architect, Libeskind is a global brand linked to some of the world's most prestigious building projects. As Libeskind's unusual crystalline structure rises into the Toronto sky, Thorsell and Libeskind dance a high-tension tango. Budgets are blown. Timetables trashed. Citizens outraged. Tuned to contemporary debates on public architecture, The Museum charts the progress of Thorsell's grand scheme in an entertaining tale of art, ego and steel beams.
