Résumé:
Margherita Spiluttini (*1947) is one of Europe’s most renowned architectural photographers firmly anchored in an art context. Dovetailing commissioned works with freelance work since the early 1980s Spiluttini has produced a body of work characterised by a meticulous, clear-cut and unpretentious imagery and an approach to architectural and landscape motifs that is always considered, in terms of both content and medium. The buildings and structures depicted by the artist are showcased not in spectacular views or in isolation for advertising effect, but always in the context of their everyday surroundings. The book accompanies the same-named exhibition conceived specifically for the Landesgalerie Linz in co-operation with Die Photographische Sammlung / SK Stiftung Kultur, Cologne. It focuses on the visual perception of architecture as a constructed space and place.

Résumé:
Before architectural postmodernism was named as such, the process of postmodernizing architecture had already begun implicating architectural work in the increasingly information-driven logic of the late twentieth century. Though radical, the effects of this process have long been excluded from the predominant histories of postmodernism, which continue to rely on notions of individual and creative genius, architectural autonomy, and stylistic genealogies. Architecture Itself and Other Postmodernization Effects places material devices, such as Pantone chips, research grant applications, questionnaires, Xerography, and travel photography, at the forefront of a counter-narrative that recasts these informatic procedures as fundamentally architectural and as the primary of catalysts of the loose agglomeration of styles that was once called postmodernism.

Opened in 1971, Denver Art Museum's north building, a seven-story structure--with its distinctive cut-out roofline, narrow windows, and an exterior covered with more than a million custom-made glass tiles--was one of the first high-rise art museums. In 2020, after a two-year closure for renovations, the museum is reopening the Ponti building, which will include new architecture and design galleries featuring an exhibition of Ponti-designed objects from the Denver Art Museum and local collections. The book will include both recent and historic photography, including many architectural details, and tell the story of how Gio Ponti, at the end of his long and remarkable career, created an architectural icon in the American West.

Résumé:
Melvin Charney (1935-2012) spent his career working on the border between art and architecture. His internationally celebrated art employed a variety of media including photography, montage, painting, sculpture, and temporary and permanent installations, relentlessly pursuing the meaning of architectural images in the age of mass communication. This volume includes a visual archive of over three hundred illustrations, many of which served as source material and inspiration for Charney's work, and set up a dialogue between his criticism and his landmark projects. Essays from architectural scholars provide critical assessments of Charney’s body of work as well as new perspectives on many of the key issues he grappled with and that have transformed architecture since the 1960s.
