Résumé:
The unschooling movement questions traditional education through creativity. Curiosity, experimentation, unrestricted thinking, making and developing are basic elements of all forms of learning and living together. In the current educational system these values are frequently overshadowed by rules, bureaucracy and little attention to the intrinsic inquisitiveness of both the student and the teacher. 'No School Manifesto' enumerates key concepts, values and attitudes such as Curiosity, Magnetism and Zigzag through an A-Z lexicon, complemented by examples of students’ work.

This essay propels the manifesto form into the future, into an age where electronic media are the primary sites of debate, suggesting that new forms of manifesto are surely emerging along with new kinds of authorship, statement, exhibition, and debate.

Résumé:
Most houses are the product of multiple layers of norms and expectations built up over time, whether methods, materials, and technologies or social, cultural, economic, and political pressures. Yet at various moments houses have been built that break with the past and do something different—houses that stand outside of these expectations and instead are conceived to embody whole new theories or agendas. We call these "manifesto houses." For the first time, this compelling thread in the history of architecture is surveyed by Owen Hopkins. He brings together a collection of twenty-one such manifesto houses, exploring the visions for architecture conjured by Andrea Palladio, Eileen Gray, Frank Lloyd Wright, Harry Seidler, Lina Bo Bardi, Anupama Kundoo, and Sou Fujimoto, among others. "The manifesto house" looks in detail at the ideas and ambitions embodied in each house, the contexts that shaped them, and their impact and influence on the future of architecture.

Résumé:
What does it mean to design experiences? Traditional design practices invite us to design things, and to use those things to solve problems. But experience is not a problem; it is life. Experience designers engage with unpredictability and the unknown, partnering with their audiences to generate possibility and relationality. Experience designers create worlds, craft narratives that leave the page and enter people’s lives, and structure transformation. In this book, Burickson lays out ten basic principles for this emerging practice. "Experience design: a participatory manifesto" invites the reader to stop making things and, instead, to craft the minutes and hours of human life. Rigorous and philosophical, the book guides the reader through the processes of empathic research; constructing worlds not just for fantasy fiction but in schools, communities, homes; and mastering the tools necessary to work coherently across disciplines to create new experiences. Whether you are a maker of immersive theater, an architect, a graphic designer, a community organizer, or just someone hoping to give a better gift, this book offers a vision of creating that is both new and as old as civilization.
