Complex architectural concepts are explained in detail, accompanied by accurate sketches by the author, to illustrate the text and form a visual counterweight to explain a total of 134 keywords. Architecture is an experience - with the intellect and with all our senses, in motion, and in use. But in order to actually discuss and assess it with relevance, a clarification of terms is essential in order to avoid the vagueness that often prevails when talking about architecture. This dictionary provides a vocabulary that allows the architecture discourse to go beyond the declaration of constructive relationships or the description of architectonic forms in familiar terms like 'roof,' 'base,' 'wall,' and 'axis' or 'proportion'. The point is to describe the experience of architecture: how exactly does it contribute to the experience of a situation?

"Space Fictions – Booklets on Architecture and Cinema (Solaris.

175 meters long, the museum bores like a triangular beam through the Har Hazikaron, or Mount of Remembrance. It juts out from the hillside at either end, allowing visitors to enter and look out. This spectacular architecture is the setting for a lavish and impressive exhibition commemorating the Holocaust. The structure is the culmination of Moshe Safdie’s work in Israel. The architect, a student of Louis Kahn who began his career with the sensational residential complex Habitat at the 1967 Montreal World’s Fair, maintains offices in Boston, Toronto, and Jerusalem. The museum, its architecture, and its series of interior spaces with their carefully designed exhibition facilities are documented in an indepth photo essay and are illustrated with texts and plans.

The birthplace of the skycraper, Chicago is famous for an architectural tradition that has influenced building around the globe. It is the craddle of modern architecture. It gae rise to the urban office building and the flowing, open floor plans of today's homes. This book chronicles Chicago's architectural tradition from the nineteenth through the early twenty-fisrt century : from the structural simplicity of Chicago School commercial building to the low-slung Prairie School house, from the streamlined Art Deco skycraper to the minimalist Miesian tower of glass and steel, all the way through the strikingly original, diverse designs of the present day's so-called second modern period.

Résumé:
What is architectural form? What does architectural form mean? And why is it so significant today? Despite the historical signi?cance of form in architecture, the subject is frequently undervalued in debate. The publication The Form of Form examines a variety of ideas regarding form, not only through aesthetic and technological approaches, but also from social and political points of view. "The form of form" is the official publication of the same-named 4th Lisbon Architecture Triennale. The content of the book underlines the cultural and technical relevance of architecture within society. It aims to foster new thoughts as we reach the dawn of a rapidly changing society driven by fast access to information. After all the tensions and frictions that happen during the physical and social transformations of our cities and landscapes, when all the fuss is over and the different agents who contributed to change have left the field of play, what is left is a built form. Citizens live among forms; architectural forms have endured from the past and they will populate the future.
