Many of the essays also draw on the social critique and tactics of the Situationist movement. The international gathering of contributors includes art, architectural, and urban historians and theorists; urban geographers; architects, artists, and filmmakers; and literary and cultural theorists. The essays range from abstract considerations of spatial production and representation to such concrete examples of urban domination as video surveillance and Regency London as the site of male pleasure. The third part includes a plate section offering a near-complete visual survey of General Idea's practice. Facing-page comparative images show works as they appeared in historical installations or other relevant contexts. These three sections correspond broadly to the collective’s development: from performances, actions, pageants and other practices (1969–78), through works engaging with mass-media formats such as the magazine, television and video (1972–’80s), and finally to works conceived for galleries and museums (1985–94). The publication features a prologue by AA Bronson, a conversation between him and Beatrix Ruf, and new texts by international scholars. The appendix includes a complete scholarly bibliography, exhibition and performance histories, and an illustrated chronology of the group.

The attention Swiss architecture has received in recent years has mainly focused on a small number of architects whose work has appeared on the covers of the specialized press. Extending throughout the Modern Movement, this is an architecture with its roots in a rich building tradition. In Graubünden, under the attentive gaze of maestro Peter Zumthor, a group of young architects educated at the ETH in Zurich, many of whom are former assistants in Zumthor's studio, demonstrate the extraordinary quality of the architectonic production of this small German-speaking region of Switzerland. These increasingly well-known names present a wide range of projects ranging from single-family houses to apartment blocks, schools, and public and commercial buildings of different sorts, yet with similarities in the way they handle materials and settings, a body of work that transcends the borders of the region and attracts the attention of the international architecture world. The introduction by Daniel Bosshard, Miguel Kreisler, Myriam Sterling and Txell Vaquer places the building tradition of Graubünden in its historical context. In Graubünden, under the attentive gaze of maestro Peter Zumthor, a group of young architects educated at the ETH in Zurich, many of whom are former assistants in Zumthor's studio, demonstrate the extraordinary quality of the architectonic production of this small German-speaking region of Switzerland. These increasingly well-known names present a wide range of projects ranging from single-family houses to apartment blocks, schools, and public and commercial buildings of different sorts, yet with similarities in the way they handle materials and settings, a body of work that transcends the borders of the region and attracts the attention of the international architecture world. The introduction by Daniel Bosshard, Miguel Kreisler, Myriam Sterling and Txell Vaquer places the building tradition of Graubünden in its historical context. The Nexus section features a 1913 text by Adolf Loos called "Rules for Those Building in the Mountains", plus Bruno Reichlin's "When Moderns Architects Build in the Mountains" and an extract from Christoph Schaub's video "The Vrin Project".

Well-known also among architects and urban theorists, during the 1990s Graham has been offered major public commissions throughout North America and Europe. London-based curator Mark Francis discusses with the artist how his public participation-based work has evolved. Brussels-based critic Birgit Pelzer draws on her extensive knowledge of Graham’s work and writings.
