Description:
This project series documents the Van der Vennepark, Schilderswijk-west in The Hague, The Netherlands. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 32/80. The office assigned the date 1985 to this project. This small park was designed in connection to the housing and shopping complex in Schilderswijk (see project series AP178.S1.1984.PR03 in this fonds) as part of an urban renewal program in The Hague. Siza also designed the urban plan for Deelgebied Zone 5, Schilderswijk-West and the Punt en Komma social housing for the same urban renewal program. He would later design the residential settlement in Schilderswijk [Plano de Doedijnstraat]. The project was not realized. The project series contains a small amount of material. Documenting the park are plans and details, including reprographic copies, for seating arrangements, ramps, a pedestrian exit, as well as reprographic copies showing the housing and shopping complex in relation to the park. Also included is a written description of the project. This project series also contains information related to the housing and shopping complex.

Description:
The project series documents the Recuperação do Restaurante Pai Ramiro in Porto, Portugal. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 19/90. The office assigned the dates 1990-1994 for this project. This project consists of a design for the restaurant Pai Ramiro in an existing eighteenth-century home. The restaurant was to have a capacity of 36 people, with a waiting bar, kitchen, storage spaces and a second-floor terrace. The building program proposed a bar area flooded in natural light from windows that revealed a backyard garden. The installation of air conditioning, a fire detection system and ventilation systems were also proposed. This project was not built. The project is recorded through drawings, photographic materials and some textual records dating from 1989-1995. The drawings include sketches, plans, elevations, sections, perspectives, details and framing drawings, while the photographic materials largely document the exisiting building. The textual records consist of correspondence, permit and supplier documentation, and the electrical program.

Description:
This project series documents the Banco Borges & Irmão II in Vila do Conde, Portugal. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 46/70. The office assigned the date 1978 to this project. The Banco Borges & Irmão bank was located in the historic part of Vila do Conde, near the Matriz Church. The project site was the same as for the Banco Borges & Irmão I (project series AP178.S1.1977.PR02 in this fonds). The old building was destroyed and Siza built a new bank. The documentation informs us that the design of the building was subject to several changes. This project series contains documentation for several different versions of the building. The building had two floors and a basement. The third floor was used for administrative offices, the second floor for services to the public, and the basement for safety deposits. In 1988, Siza received the Mies van der Rohe prize for this project. Drawings include sketches, studies and working drawings. Textual materials include project documentation, meeting minutes and correspondence. Photographic materials include photographs of the models and the built project. A study model is also included in these materials.
