This architecture is marked by a sense of a self-assured and sensual presence, shaped by light, texture, materiality and scale. It should almost go without saying at this point that in an age in which most architects actively seek to achieve the identity of a "look," Olson Sundberg's work eschews simple similarities. Certain principles are evident from one building to another, as is the absence of direct historical replication, but consistency is not the same as a packageable style. Indeed, a single, easily identifiable style is something that these architects not only do not have but seem actively to discourage, as if its presence could be taken as a sign that their firm was not sufficiently cognizant of the widely varying demands that are inherent in different clients' programs, sites and esthetic preferences. L’élément majeur de SweaterLodge est un abri géant en molleton Polarfleece fait de fibres plastiques provenant de canettes recyclées. Suspendu à l’intérieur du pavillon canadien, ce vêtement abrite les visiteurs, comme un grand cocon orange. Les visiteurs qui entrent dans ce grand chandail peuvent assister à des projections de films numériques montrant des capsules d’une ville où nature sauvage et vie urbaine s’entremêlent. Chaque projection est activée par un spectateur qui pédale sur un vélo stationnaire : plus il pédale vite, plus la bande vidéo passe rapidement. Les caisses d’expédition et les bagages utilisés pour le transport de l’exposition se transformeront pour devenir le mobilier du pavillon, SweaterLodge présupposant un avenir où les objets seront polyvalents : un chandail se convertit en abri, des bagages deviennent des sofas, et des vélos, des projecteurs. Bernd Evers a soutenu sa thèse de doctorat en histoire de l'art avant de choisir une carrière de bibliothécaire. De 1985 à 2006, il a dirigé la Kunstbibliothek der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin.
