This period encompasses what Guattari himself called the "Winter Years" of the early 1980s—the imprisonment of Italian radicals, the disillusion with the socialists in power, the backlash against post-'68 thinking, the spread of environmental catastrophe, and the establishment of a postmodernist ideology aimed at adaptation rather than change—a period with discernible echoes twenty years later.

Résumé:
"Three economies of transcendence" offers a sharp critique of how transcendence underpins the symbolic, economic, and environmental crises of the modern world. Andrea Righi identifies three distinct “economies of transcendence” that sustain neoliberal systems of power. Termed the economy of rank, the economy of infinite valorization, and the phallic economy of time, these economies perpetuate hierarchies, sacrifices, and ecological destruction. Through this framework, Righi not only diagnoses the crisis but also proposes an immanent model of economy that fosters solidarity and is expressly pro-social and ecologically responsible.

Résumé:
The visibility of climate-emergency phenomena and multiplying crises results in a growing awareness of immediate and long-term repercussions of our design actions. Led by Urszula Kozminska, the project "Time matters" is a collective reflection on an open and experimental approach towards sustainability in which the idea of time is the core of investigations. It aims to showcase the power of fictional architectural narratives in stimulating new ways of mapping, designing, constructing, and communicating. Furthermore, the project promotes an architecture that evolves alongside shifting conditions and introduces its dynamics as a primary design parameter.

Résumé:
As the boundaries that separate photography from other forms of artistic production are increasingly fluid, Solomon-Godeau, a pioneering feminist and politically engaged critic, argues that the relationships between photography, culture, gender, and power demand renewed attention. In her analyses of the photographic production of Cindy Sherman, Robert Mapplethorpe, Susan Meiselas, Francesca Woodman, and others, Solomon-Godeau refigures the disciplinary object of photography by considering these practices through an examination of the determinations of genre and gender as these shape the relations between photographers, their images, and their viewers.

Résumé:
For the French philosopher Miguel Abensour, the fictional genre of utopia has provided thinkers and artists a fertile ground to explore for the past 500 years, both as a way to imagine new emancipatory practices of shared existence and as a tyrannical imposition of power. Here, Abensour’s project is to examine the idea of utopia in two different but powerful moments in its trajectory: first, utopia’s beginning, when Thomas More sought a path for justice through a world in transformation, and second, when utopia faced its greatest danger, the moment that Walter Benjamin called “catastrophe.”

Résumé:
"I Hate the Lake District" offers a different vision of the rural environment from those found in much contemporary nature writing. Based on the author's trips around North West England, the book engages with nuclear power and nuclear war, slavery, imperialism, ghosts, love, God, cockroaches, and the sheer violence and contingency of “nature” itself—of which the human presence is merely a part. Each chapter starts with an account of a visit to a place in this remote part of England, the deep north, but digresses and wanders through multifarious themes and subjects.
