Résumé:
More just spatial practices are to be found in the diversity and nuances of myriad space-making paradigms that tackle local challenges while providing credible responses to current global issues. This book proposes a collection of spatial protocols following an imaginary line: the 45°N parallel. This line crosses Europe, from the Atlantic Coast to the Black Sea. The practices are named rituals because they strengthen the potential for collective action in order to reach systemic change. They are labeled radical because they are highly transformative and point toward possible futures.

Schütte’s first forays into imaginary or utopian architecture were scale models of rooms in which one might live and work. After a gap of 20 years, Schütte returned to the architectural model, producing light pavilions out of wood and studio leftovers, as well as commercial and public buildings. Houses provides a comprehensive survey of Schütte’s architectural models, from his early experiments through to his current design projects.

Résumé:
As climate change accelerates and urbanization intensifies, our need for more sustainable and livable cities has never been more urgent. Yet, the imaginary of a flourishing urban ecofuture is often driven by a specific version of sustainability that is tied to both high-tech futurism and persistent economic growth. What kinds of sustainable futures are we calling forth, and at what and whose expense? In "Reimagining the more-than-human city," Jamie Wang attempts to answer these questions by critically examining the sociocultural, political, ethical, and affective facets of human-environment dynamics in the urban nexus, with a geographic focus on Singapore.

Résumé:
This issue expands on codes as ethical, social, political, and legal boundaries—considering them as sets of visible and invisible instructions moving within and beyond the digital imaginary. Through features, interviews, and experimental texts, artists and writers probe how developments in AI and coding are products of existing mechanics of the world, and how else codes are constituted. From programming languages as poetry to paranormal readings with the land against settler ideas of an inanimate wilderness, contributors ask how the material consequences of an array of codes might be re-inscribed to understand or lay form to (alternate) conditions of life.

''The Handbook for Social, Ecological and Existential Utopia'' is published on occasion of the exhibition ''Life on Planet Orsimanirana''. It understands itself as a 'collidoscope' of a decentralised, non-hierarchical and generative process of world building by a diverse group of local and international collectives, activists, artists and designers. It brings together these varying and divergent positions in a visual stream of consciousness. It thereby aims to lay a joyful groundwork to create the world we want to live – against the backdrop of the social, ecological and existential crises we face today – on a practical, imaginary as well as symbolic level.

Every map tells a story. Some provide a narrative for travelers, explorers, and surveyors or offer a visual account of changes to people’s lives and surroundings, while others tell imaginary tales, transporting us to fictional worlds created by writers and artists. In turn, maps generate more stories, taking users on new journeys in search of knowledge and adventure. By telling the stories behind the artifacts and those generated by them, "Talking Maps " reveals how each map is not just a tool for navigation but also a worldly proposal that helps us to understand who we are by describing where we are.

Résumé:
This is the first book to catalog comparative maps and tableaux that visualize the heights and lengths of the world's mountains and rivers. Produced predominantly in the nineteenth century, these maps emerged out of the tide of exploration and scientific developments in measuring techniques. Beginning with the work of explorer Alexander von Humboldt, these historic drawings reveal a world of artistic and imaginative difference. Many of them give way—and with visible joy—to the power of fantasy in a mesmerizing array of realistic and imaginary forms. Most of the maps are from the David Rumsey Historical Map Collection at Stanford University.
