The project series documents "Breathing Architecture," an installation initially presented at the Galleria Federico Luger in Milan, in 2012. The installation consists of a square shaped sheet of plaster placed on a wall giving the impression that a portion of the gallery wall has been lifted to create an opening in order to allow it to breathe. This installation has similarities to Pettena's earlier project "Grass Architecture" for Trigon '72 and "Parete "Branchia"" in 1999. "[...] here the work, which on this occasion takes up the whole of a wall all by itself, has more the significance of a gesture, of a sculpture that retains memories of architecture, and at the same time of the school of conceptual art in which Pettena was also formed." Artist Stefano Graziani investigates archival and conservation systems in a number of museums. Through photographing museum objects, Graziani, focusing on the relationship between photographs, the museum objects and the power structures at play within institutions. The museums include the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in Montréal, Canada; Sir John Soane’s Museum in London, UK; the Kunstmuseum Basel, Switzerland; Museum Insel Hombroich in Neuss, Germany; the Museo di Castelvecchio in Verona, Italy; and the Plaster Cast Gallery at Museo Canova in Possagno, Italy.

Hejduk was invited by the organizers of the XVII Triennale di Milano, under the direction of Pierluigi Nicolin, to submit a project for the Triennale's theme of 'Nine Projects for Nine Cities' (Shkapich, 12 Nov. 1992). This group of drawings and photocopies of preliminary sketches by Hejduk is based on the "MZ7" document, which was compiled under the direction of Giorgio Fiorese and Marsia Deimichei and includes site information and a series of photographs of the Bovisa district of Milan (Fiorese 1987, p. 41). Created by Hejduk in New York during the summer of 1986, the drawings are a combination of real and fictional architecture and figures based on the photographs of the "MZ7" document.
