''Mind-building'' tells the story of public libraries and library architecture in Finland. Featuring seventeen buildings from different periods, grouped under specific themes and curated by architectural critic and scholar Anni Vartola, it presents texts, drawings, and photographs of each, plus extracts from various sources such as newspapers, competition briefs, and architectural reviews. The oldest library is the Rikhardinkatu Library in Helsinki (1881), the first in the Nordic region built specifically for the public. En devenant ours, chèvre, cerf ou sanglier, homme de paille, diable ou monstre aux mâchoires d'acier, ces hommes célèbrent le cycle de la vie et des saisons. Leurs costumes, faits de peaux de bêtes ou de végétaux, sertis d'ossements ou ceinturés de cloches, chapeautés de cornes ou de bois de cerfs, sidèrent par l'extraordinaire diversité et la prodigieuse beauté de leurs formes. Les portraits photographiques d'hommes sauvages de Charles Fréger subliment cette suspension provisoire de la normalité qu'est la mascarade et révèlent une tradition méconnue d'une étonnante richesse. Toutes les figures photographiées sont décrites, en fin d'ouvrage, dans le contexte du rituel auquel elles se rattachent. Ces textes ont été rédigés en collaboration avec le Musée international du Carnaval et du Masque situé à Binche en Belgique, et sont illustrés des silhouettes créées pour l'occasion par Geneviève Gauckler.
