Projet
AP207.S1.1973.PR02
Description:
The project series documents the performance "Io Sono La Spia". It consists of a group of photographs of the founders of Global Tools taken in 1973, in Milan, in which Pettena identifies himself as "the spy" by holding a sign that reads "Io Sono La Spia" [I am the Spy]. Global Tools, was a multidisciplinary program of workshops used to promote different tools and materials in architecture and represented the peak in the radical movement in Italy. By identifying himself as "the spy", Pettena "claimed to be a betraying architect and he stated his own 'diversity' by calling into question his identified role as a 'radical architect'." [1] The project series contains the sign with the words "Io Sono La Spia" and photographs of the Global Tools team, including a photograph showing Pettena holding the sign "Io Sono La Spia". Description:
Album containing 100 photogravures made from photographs by Baldus following a special process of his own, that would restore them on the reverse side. Malcolm Daniel writes: "Baldus's Louvre photographs found their final incarnation in a gravure publication 'Palais du Louvre et des Tuileries'. The three volumes in this set largely parallel the albums that Baldus had made earlier for the Minister of State; again the majority of the images are of sculptural and ornamental details from the New Louvre, but statuary and ornament from the Tuileries Palace and Gardens are also included. The first edition of the 'Palais du Louvre et des Tuileries', published by Baldus himself, was offered for sale in fascicles beginning in late 1869, and the series was completed by the end of 1871. Two volumes, each with 100 plates, focused on interior and exterior decoration. Because of the success of the first two volumes, a third, showing both interior and exterior motifs was produced, and the three-volume set was published by Morel in 1875." ('History of Photography', p. 120-121). In this album, views show sculptural and ornamental details (mostly fragments) of the models made for decoration of the Salon Théâtre, the dining room, the Salon d'Angle, the Galerie d'Introduction, the staircase of the library, the Salon de Famille and the Grands Appartements of the Minister of State; the Manège and the Grand staircase for the Pavillon Mollien of the New Louvre; the Galerie d'Apollon and the Grand staircase and Appartements des Tuileries.

Projet
AP018.S1.1974.PR16
Description:
This project series documents renovations to the Ontario Association of Architects headquarters in Toronto from 1974-1978. The office identified the project number as 7420. This project consisted of renovations to the heating, air conditioning and lighting systems of the office building. The project also investigated an expansion of the building within its current perimeter, stating a horizontal expansion would be too expensive due to the poor condition of the surrounding ground. A third floor addition to the three-level building was recommended. The headquarters had been designed by John C. Parkin's previous firm, John B. Parkin Associates, in the 1950s and was located at 50 Park Road. The project is recorded through textual records and reprographic copies of drawings dating from 1973-1978. The drawings are all arranged within the textual materials, which consist of containing correspondence, interoffice memos, supplementary instructions, change orders, certificates of payment, inspection and conference reports, contract documents and a feasibility study. Box AP018.S1.1974.PR16.001 contains an index to the textual records, which was created by the office.
