Résumé:
From the stainless steel curves of its striking exterior to the state-of-the-art acoustics of the hardwood-paneled main auditorium, Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall, new home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will be one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world. Opening in fall 2003, the hall is destined to be a new architectural landmark, generating as much excitement as Gehry's Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, which its design predates. This book, which includes an introduction by Gehry, traces the history of the hall from its inception through the architect selection process, construction, and completion of the building, which is recorded by architectural photographer Grant Mudford. Esa-Pekka Salonen, music director for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, recounts his first impressions of Gehry and the models for the new building in an essay that also defines what makes a great orchestra and a great concert hall.

Résumé:
Shortly after Storefront for Art and Architecture was founded in 1982, director Kyong Park began circulating a regular 'newsletter' among the gallery's friends and followers in New York City. Sent by mail to a list of up to 3,000 people, this news-sheet/poster served to inform New Yorkers on upcoming exhibitions, events and programs in the gallery; it also served as a reader or exhibition guide of sorts, offering critical contextualizations to the exhibitions on display at Storefront. Over time, the archive of Storefront's Newsprints grew to become the most complete historical documentation of the gallery's programs since its earliest days. 'Storefront Newsprints 1982-2009' is comprised of reproductions of over 154 newsletters, many of which contain otherwise unpublished texts by artists, architects and theorists such as Vito Acconci, Lebbeus Woods, Michael Sorkin, Beatriz Colomina, Michael Webb and Eyal Weizman, among others.

Résumé:
Archigram comprised Warren Chalk (1927-88), Peter Cook (1936-), Dennis Crompton (1935-), David Greene (1937-), Ron Herron (1930-94), and Michael Webb (1937-). Together, in the 1960s and early 1970s, they envisioned the future of architecture in ways that enthralled a generation. In an era defined by the space race, they developed a 'high-tech', lightweight, infra-structural approach that stretched far beyond known technologies or contemporary realities. Archigram's influence has been profound and enduring. This book catalogues Archigram's activities over fourteen years, together with commentaries by the architects and critics writing then and now. Edited and designed by Archigram member Dennis Crompton, it has been 40 years in the making.
