In the history of planning, the design of an entire community prior to its construction is among the oldest traditions. "Iconic Planned Communities and the Challenge of Change" explores the twenty-first-century fortunes of planned communities around the world. Drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives, the editors and contributors examine what happened to planned communities after their glory days had passed and they became vulnerable to pressures of growth, change, and even decline.

For her series 'When Red Disappears' Elspeth Diederix, ventured into the secret gardens of the Dutch waters in Zeeland. The benthic flora and fauna of this chilly, turbid, green-grey water turned out to display an extraordinary visual richness that was a perfect complement to the large body of botanical work that Diederix has made in gardens and parks. Through Diederix’ goggles we glimpse an unspoiled underwater paradise, where life – in the form of shells, sponges, seaweeds, anemones and other organisms – shows its most colourful side.

Résumé:
Architectural photographer Juan Rodríguez brings his keen eye and perceptive sense of form, mass, and light to this extensive series of photographs featuring the architecture of Manuel Aires Mateus. In documenting work by this famed Portuguese architect, which has a strongly sculptural nature, Rodríguez has opted for the stark contrasts and dramatic lighting effects of black-and-white film. The buildings with their geometric shapes are usually white, possessing characteristic clean lines and bold volumes that stand out dramatically in their respective contexts, whether a natural landscape or urban setting.

Résumé:
Throughout the twentieth century, housing displays have proven to be a singular genre of architectural and design exhibitions. By crossing geographies and adopting multiple scales of observation – from domestic space to urban visions – this volume investigates a set of unexplored events devoted to housing and dwelling, organised by technical, professional, cultural or governmental institutions from the interwar years to the Cold War. The book offers a first critical assessment of twentieth-century housing exhibits and explores the role of exhibitions in the codification of notions of domesticity, social models, policies, and architectural and urban discourse. At the intersection of housing studies and the history of exhibitions, ''The Housing Project'' not only offers a novel angle on architectural history but also enriches scholarly perspectives in urban studies, cultural and media history, design, and consumption studies.

Résumé:
Luigi Bonotto dedicated himself to keeping the work of the artists of Fluxus and Experimental Poetry alive, and to preserving, cataloguing, and promoting their poetry, music, and work, which was strongly influenced by John Cage and the key concept of his theoretical framework, indeterminacy. Published on the occasion of an exhibition curated by Patrizio Peterlini and Walter Rovere, with the collaboration of Giorgio Maffei, this catalogue delves deeply into this aspect of the Fluxus network. Rife with illustrations, the materials of the collection, as well as the movement and its history, are analysed in scholarly essays by Anna Cestelli Guidi, Alison Knowles, and the curators.

Résumé:
The exhibition catalogue for an eponymous exhibition at the Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art in Japan, this volume celebrates the sustained brilliance of Bridget Riley’s art. A renowned proponent of Op art, the British artist is known to use a variety of geometric forms that produce sensations of movement or colour for the viewer, at once disorienting or even psychedelic. Spanning her career, the exhibition and publication highlight more than 30 paintings, including key examples of her famous black-and-white works of the 1960s, the stripe paintings of the 1970s, and curve paintings from the 1990s, as well as her more recent wall paintings.
