Résumé:
Curatorial projects are increasingly understood as research projects with extended time frames and complex interactions across diverse sectors. This book presents “100 Years of Now,” a research project taking place at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin from 2015 to 2019, as a critical investigation into the temporality of contemporaneity—both in terms of its structure and content. To address the expanding temporality of the now, the book argues for the need to include other forms of knowledge in curatorial process, and for contemporary cultural institutions to facilitate the development of collective curatorial processes and research practices.

Résumé:
In today’s increasingly digitalized and neoliberal societies, debates on universals and specifics have gained new momentum. This volume situates the contemporary return to universal claims and concepts in the fields of art, architecture, and urbanism, and highlights the interrelation of the specific and the universal in diverse historical situations from the nineteenth century to the present. The collection’s essays thus venture an epistemic shift of the concept of universality: from essence to modality, from the abstract and static to the performative and productive.

He argues that global trends decades and even centuries in the making have reduced a world of logic and fact into one driven by emotions—particularly fear and anxiety. This has ushered in an age of “nervous states,” both in(...)

Created over the course of three years by Australian photographer Tom Blachford, the surreal images function as portals in time, with the homes, cars, and beautiful scenery appearing almost exactly as it all did 60 years ago. Architects write a lot, especially now that conceptual aspects have become central in advanced reflections and narrative forms increasingly intersect the quest of design practices for an ultimate legitimation. In the growing mass of publications, these keywords turn the genre of annotated bibliography into a hypertextual device by highlighting recurrent issues and tracking synthetic paths of orientation among different critical positions, with particular attention to what happens in the neighbouring fields of the arts and sciences.
