Résumé:
In 1952, Le Corbusier designed a small wooden building for himself that he would inhabit for years as a home-shelter. Le Cabanon would be remembered as a reflection on the concentration of inhabited space, on the versatility of space and its uses. This formed the basis for a challenge posed to a group of authors from different fields in art, architecture and design. Their aim: to think and design an intimate shelter space for themselves, where they would reflect on inhabiting the twenty-first century. The exhibition of their exercises and proposals, "Still Cabanon", took place during the 2017 Anozero Biennial, Coimbra (PT) and this book is its catalogue. With contributions by, among others Aires Mateus, Carvalho Araújo, Didier Fiuza Faustino, Eduardo Souto Moura, Fernanda Fragateiro, and José Pedro Croft.

Résumé:
The election and inauguration of Donald J. Trump as the president of the United States of America have provoked an unprecedented intensity of reflection in virtually all academic disciplines. The professions of architecture and planning, faced with the phenomenon of a self-proclaimed "builder-in-chief," have found themselves facing a series of fundamental questions, both old and new. How should we think, teach, and practice under a developer presidency? What sort of walls will we and won't we choose to build? What are our commitments of critical thought, and what obligations should we turn our energies toward? The essays gathered in And Now explore the nature of architecture's many long-standing complicities. Architecture coordinates colossal expenditures (of material, of energy); it scripts forms of labor (in its construction, in its operation, and in the programs it houses); and it is both a repository and generator of capital. Architecture participates, centrally, in defining modes of life, whether for the privileged or the dispossessed-designing and building the boundaries between the "haves" and the "have-nots." This fundamental reality of architectural practice need not inspire either nihilism or defensiveness but should rather be understood, quite simply, as the terrain we navigate. Naming these complicities and the injustices they perpetuate is a first step toward addressing them.

Résumé:
''After Belonging'' examines the objects, spaces, and territories of our transforming condition of belonging. The global circulation of people, information, and goods has destabilised what we under- stand by residence, questioning spatial permanence, property, and identity - a crisis of belonging. Circulation brings greater accessibility to ever-new commodities and further geographies. But, simultaneously, circulation also promotes growing inequalities for large groups who are kept in precarious states of transit. The publication examines both our attachment to places and collectivities as well as our relation to the objects we produce, own, share, and exchange. It analyses the architectures entangled in these definitions through a selection of projects, texts, and case studies.

Résumé:
However disparate the style or ethos, beneath architecture’s pluralism lies a number of categorical typologies. In this volume, Austrian architect Andreas Lechner has condensed his profound typological understanding into a single book. Divided into three chapters—Tectonics, Type, and Topos—Lechner’s book reflects upon twelve fundamental typologies: theater, museum, library, state, office, recreation, religion, retail, factory, education, surveillance, and hospital. Encompassing a total of 144 carefully selected examples of classic designs and buildings, ranging across an epic sweep from antiquity to the present, the book not only explains the fundamentals of collective architectural knowledge but traces the interconnected reiterations that lie at the heart of architecture’s transformative power.

Résumé:
Several Italian architects have recently taken up the technique of collage again to present their ideas. The three masters of this tendency are Carmelo Baglivo, Luca Galofaro and Beniamino Servino, while the younger generation includes authors such as Davide Trabucco and robocoop. If collage has been one of the favorite techniques in Italian architecture since the nineteen sixties, the current collagists are new in ways that relate to developments in digital technology. They use software like Photoshop to create their images, recur to social media like Facebook to post their work and they can refer to the whole history of architectural and non-architectural imagery, which is instantly accessible on the Web. Their collages can be visual comments as well as daring fantasies. The book presents a rich selection of images and original texts dedicated to this phenomenon.
