Car Collective

Building
Parking

Car collective is a structure that attaches to four cars to create an enclosure. It consists of a roof and detachable walls that span four adjacent parking spaces. When the walls are in place the space retains heat, is quiet and private. In this closed situation entry to the space is only possible by opening one of the eight outward facing car doors and sliding across the seats. When the walls are off the tent provides an entry canopy and the peripheral car interiors become intimate sitting areas. The space acts as a free meeting space and public interface. The project neutralizes the atomizing potential of the automobile, in order to create an alterative form of communicative space.
