Scope and Content

The documentary collection records the friendship between Gordon Matta-Clark and Carol Goodden (now Caroline McCoy) through letters and postcards, largely from Matta-Clark to Goodden, as well as in an unpublished autobiography. The letters were written not only when they were living together in 1971-1973 but also later as they remained friends until Matta-Clark's death in 1978. The collection includes Goodden's later reminiscences about Matta-Clark written for curators of Matta-Clark exhibitions, several photocopies of photographs, and a letter from Roberto Matta.

The documentary collection contains photocopies of textual records and photographs. Includes 29 letters, seven postcards, three photocopies of photographs, an autobiography, an essay, a transcript, a note, an envelope and a valentine.
