Series
AP196.S2
Description:
Series 2, Project files for full-term design, 2007-2011, documents the design phase after the firm won the project. During this phase, the firm refined the design, which included deciding on the pattern for the bird screen. The firm also produced the construction drawings and was in contact with potential subcontractors for the project. However, due to cuts in the city budget, the Ford Calumet Environmental Center was never built. The records consist largely of AutoCAD drawings and original sketches documenting the final design development phase, as well as related AutoCAD drawings for construction details. The records also include email correspondence with project subcontractors and City of Chicago’s Department of Environment and programming documents submitted to the City for different commissions and departments. The records also include marketing documents used for different publications about the project. Additionally, there is one study model for the entire building, two sectional models for façade roof and deck, and one terrazzo flooring sample.

Rehri study, India (1972)
AP206.S1.1972.PR03
Description:
This project series documents proposed improvements to the rehri, small carts used as mobile stores, in India around 1972. While rehri were technically illegal, they outnumbered traditional stores in urban areas at this time. Prakash studied their use and effect on city life and argued for the improvement of their design in order to elevate the rehriwallas (rehri owners) and improve conditions in the city. Prakash studied the rehri throughout his time as principal at the Chandigarh College of Architecture. This project is recorded through a reprographic copy of a drawing of improved rehri designs dating from around 1972.

CI005.S1.1924.PR2
Description:
The village of Hoek van Holland – which had been annexed to Rotterdam in 1914 – successfully appealed to the city council in 1923 to develop public housing to address the city's shortage of affordable housing. Oud was commissioned to sketch 40 dwellings for working class residents. The original plan consisted of three separate rows of housing, which were later amended to two two-storey rows of housing. City council sent back the plans with a request to change the facade, but in 1925 accepted the original design before construction began in 1927. The design comprehended 41 dwellings, a library, four warehouses and four shop fronts with unique curved facades (Taverne et al. 2001, 260-265). Project series includes photographs of facades and exteriors of housing as well as plans.
