Description:
The project series documents the competition entry for the international competition “Jubilee-Gardens” for the reorganization of the Southbank in London, England. Abalos & Herreros worked with an international team and the firm's entry was a finalist in the competition. The firm identified this project as number 139. “The competition programme asked for a new center for London. A center which would be perceived as a global icon. Comparing the statement with analogue enclaves showed that the Southbank was very small for such ambition, especially because of the fact that the project had to let as much metropolitan space open as possible. This forced to investigate how to enlarge the site. The problem was resolved by connecting adjacent areas in three levels. The original conditions and the programme offered a diverse mix of urban and natural elements: history, entertainment, culture, open spaces, the Thames… from where the conquest of the adjacent areas, the sub terrain and the margins of a linked event starts.” (ARCH270975) Documenting the project are conceptual and design development drawings, photographic and reference materials, notes, competition documents, and correspondence.

Description:
The project series documents "Complimenti D'Architettura", an installation for the Biennale di Venezia at the Magazzini del Sale in 1978. The installation consists of a stone wall that showcases the different types of stone used as construction material over time, begining with uncut natural stone and ending with cut polished stone. "It is a symbolic history of architecture [...]: all the intermediate phases, from the collection of scattered pieces of rock, piled up to make a heap, to the hewn and polished stone, its surface as shiny as a mirror." [1] The installation was also presented at the exhibition "La fine del mondo" at the Centro Pecci per l'Arte Contemporanea in Prato, in 2016. The project series contains photographs of the first edition of the installation at the Biennale di Venezia, and installation sketches. This project series documents the Recupero del Palazzo Donnaregina / Museu de Arte Contemporâneo in Napoli, Italy. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 55/00. The office assigned the date 2003 for this project. The Palazzo Donnaregina was built during the 19th century and served multiple functions during his history, including a bank and a school of administration. In 2001, the building was abandoned after a flood. In 2005, the Campania Regional Government bought the building and leased it to the Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporane. Àlvaro Siza and the Studio DAZ-Dumontet Antonini Zaske were selected to renovate and repurpose the builsing into a contemporary art museum. The museum included exhibition halls, a library, a bookshop, and a mediatheque. The project was realized. Documenting this project are sketches, studies, design development drawings, plans, and details. Textual material includes project documentation, catalogs from suppliers, and correspondence. Photographic material documents Siza's visits, project site, and construction work.

Project series documents Cornelia Hahn Oberlander's landscale project for the King David High School garden, on Willow Street, in Vancouver. The project consists in a biblical garden that features plants and trees mentionned in the the Torah to teach biblical heritage to the students of the school outdoors as well as indoors. It includes signage of individual species with quotations from the Torah in Hebrew, English & Latin. Oberlander worked in this project in the mid-2000s with architect firm Acton Ostry Architects Inc. The project series contains research and documentation, correspondence, including with client and contractors, landscape specifications, project description, financial documents, physical and digital document related to the plant selection, and a few photographs of the construction. The project is also documented through design development drawings, such as landscape plans, elevations, details for the signs, some presentation drawings, and a sample of the plan identification signs. The material for this project also comprises documents related to landscape maintenance of the garden, including maintenance history summary and contract with contractor for maintenance of trees.
