Résumé:
As models and paradigms, patterns have been helping to orient architects since the Middle Ages. But patterns are also the basis of the history of ornament, an aesthetic phenomenon that links all times and cultures at a fundamental level. Ornament – and hence pattern as well – was abolished by the avant-garde in the first half of the twentieth century, but the notion of pattern has taken on new meaning and importance since the 1960s. Today the use of generative computerized methods is opening up new ways of talking about an idea that is becoming increasingly abstract and dynamic. Pattern explores the question: what are the notions of pattern that must be discussed in the context of contemporary architecture?

Résumé:
Ruedi Baur has chosen seven concepts to describe his conceptual approach: anticipate, question, inscribe, perplex, orient, differentiate, and translate. They serve as the structure of his book and the basis for seven dialogues between him and conversation partners from various disciplines. The practical implementation of these concepts is presented using projects from his Integral studio in Zurich und Paris. Previously unpublished new projects are integrated thematically into the evolution of Baur’s oeuvre. This book captures the conceptual and design constants of, and the fascination in, the work of Ruedi Baur. Five years after the success of Ruedi Baur, Intégral et associés, the author again takes stock and manifests the principles of his design work and attitude.

Résumé:
Exist, orient, store, inebriate, measure, exchange, store, recite, write, think, navigate, love, share, rule, play, boil, adore, pierce, kill . . . The curators Andrea Branzi and Kenya Hara selected one hundred verbs, connected to one hundred objects, to let us travel across human history; words which relate to actions which relate to objects. Walking through the exhibition Neo-Prehistory at Triennale di Milano and reading this book means becoming lost in a space out of time, dark and multiplied by mirrors that make the exhibition apparently boundless. An infinite space where the hypnotic sequence of artifacts is emphasized by the primeval sound of a heartbeat slowing down and then accelerating rhythmically in a mesmeric cycle.
Théorie du design

Résumé:
In the first book devoted to Rimbaud's lost voyage to Asia; novelist and critic Jamie James reviews everything that is known about the episode; from there, he imaginatively spirals into a reconstruction of what the poet must have seen, and informed speculation about what he might have done, vividly recreating life in nineteenth-century Java along the way. Rimbaud in Java(...)

Rimbaud in Java concludes with an inquiry into what the Orient represented in the poet's imagination, with a scandalous, amusing history of French orientalism. James surprising book is a richly concentrated blend of biography, criticism and thought-travel, which brings into sharp focus this brief encounter between a great writer and a vanished world.
