Description:
The project series documents the competition, design, and construction of the Plaza and Tower Woermann, on the Canary Islands. The competition was organised by the City Council of Las Palmas. Abalos & Herreros and Renata Sentkiewicz in collaboration with Joaquín Casariego and Elsa Guerra won first place for their entry. They also worked with Ferrovial Inmobiliaria, Irene Zúñiga, David Sobrino and Obiol y Moya. The firm identified the project as number 142. The building includes offices, residential and retail units, and a public library. The square was designed with collaborating artist Albert Oehlen using Portuguese stone. Both the tower and the plaza were designed with the idea of integrating them in a hybrid-natural and artificial-landscape. In 2005, the firm was a finalist at the Premios FAD de Arquitectura e Interiorismo for this project. Documenting the project are contains design development and working drawings, graphic and photographic materials, correspondence, notes and a model.

File documents a competition entry for a landmark to be located in the city centre of Melbourne, Australia. Price's project for a multi-use structure combined the idea of a "city-farm" with public access routes for harvesting, marketing, and purchasing produce. "[F]our multi-floored hydroponic farms" covered with faceted triangulated space frames rise from an expansive open deck structure which covered most of the site. Artificial lights and additional water collection and supply was integrated within the triangulated space frames. Conceptual sketches in pen and coloured pencil show the initial design. A presentation panel which is composed of text and drawings pasted onto a base sheet indicates the existing site conditions in plan, the open deck platform grids, the triangulated space frames, various views of the proposed landmark design, and future design developments. The project consists of a film created by Pettena with randomly selected filmstrips of film reels that were going to be thrown away. The film was then presented to the public in Salt Lake City without anyone looking at the content before. This project series document the exterior restauration work of Toronto Union Station in Toronto from 1984-1985. The office identified the project number as 8405. This project consisted of restoration to the exterior of the train station commissioned by VIA Rail Canada Inc. This work was referred to as a clean up in the project documentation. Restauration work was done to the existing exterior stonework, colannades, screens and skylights. This project was referred to as Package A in the materials, with Package B representing a project for interior work (see project series AP018.S1.1984.PR01 in this fonds). This project is recorded through drawings, photographs and textual records dating from 1984-1985. The drawings are of earlier plans for the station, prepared by architects Ross & Macdonald and some by Public Works Canada. The textual records include correspondence, conference and site reports, contract data, construction documentation, financial records, interoffice letters.

The office assigned the date 1998 to this project. The bank headquarter is divided into three volumes. Due to the high humidity level of the area, special efforts were put into the design of the air conditioning system. There are four different entrances, one for the public to access the main meeting rooms, one for the employees that is linked to the basement parking, one for the treasury, and one for visitors to the museum, auditorium, or the bar. To this day, the headquarter is still in construction. Documenting this project are plans, details, technical drawings, and mechanical drawings. - This album contains student drawings by Hubert Rohault de Fleury executed at the École spéciale de peinture, sculpture et architecture, Paris (1798-1802), including drawings for the Grand Prix Competitions of 1800, 1801 and 1802, the Concours d'essai, the Concours d'émulation of 1800 and 1801, and other undetermined competitions. The drawings illustrate all stages of the design and competition process, ranging from preliminary sketches and esquisses to finished renderings, but do not include the renderings submitted to the Grand Prix Competitions. Drawings for the conversion of the Église de la Madeleine into a Temple de la Gloire (ca. 1806-1807) include line and wash drawings. Hubert's 1800 Grand Prix entry for an École nationale des beaux-arts was awarded the "deuxième Grand Prix" and this album includes: the esquisse; a handwritten copy of the programme; 11 large-scale line drawings - sections, elevations, and details of the ornamentation (DR1974:0002:012:008 R; DR1974:0002:012:012 R; DR1974:0002:012:037, DR1974:0002:012:039, DR1974:0002:012:041 - DR1974:0002:012:049). Two other drawings depict an École des beaux-arts, but they do not conform to the esquisse of Hubert's 1800 Grand Prix entry (DR1974:0002:012:012 V and DR1974:0002:012:013). Hubert's 1801 Grand Prix entry for a forum or public square dedicated to peace, is represented by the esquisse and four elevations, one coloured with wash (DR1974:0002:012:009 R/V - DR1974:0002:012:011 R). Studies of triumphal arches, probably relate to this project (DR1974:0002:012:011 V). Hubert's winning 1802 Grand Prix entry for a public fair with a hall for the exhibition of products of industry located on the banks of a large river is represented by an elevation and sectional elevation for the esquisse; 3 prints; finished plans, one of which is possibly part of the esquisse; elevations; sectional elevations; and one section (DR1974:0002:012:001 R/V - DR1974:0002:012:006 R/V:001-004). Rohault de Fleury's design for the conversion of the Église de la Madeleine is represented by two plans (one with an elevation) drawn on engraved plans of the Madeleine, three sketch plans, a section, an elevation of a capital and other ornamentation, and an engraved plan of the designs by Pierre Contant d'Ivry and Guillaume Martin Couture for the same project.
