Description:
The Projects series, 1911-1973, consists of Oud's work on 67 projects, mainly within The Netherlands, as well as within Germany, Czechoslovakia and the United States. The Projects Series includes Oud's early conceptual drawings, such as sketches, as well as design development drawings, such as elevations and plans. The series includes photographs of Oud’s realized buildings as well as photographs of Oud's designs. The Projects Series is particularly strong in Oud's work on social housing projects while he served as municipal architect for the Rotterdam Housing Authority from 1918-1933, including his works on standardization and mass produced housing estates for low income residents. The series is also strong in Oud's designs for major public buildings and post-World War Two reconstruction, such as the Hofplein design. The series includes Oud's designs for private residences, World War Two memorials and competitions. The series also includes photographs taken of Oud exhibit models and his interior designs. The Milton Parc fonds, 1969 – 1989, documents the Société du patrimoine urbaine de Montréal’s (SPUM) planning, design and renovation of Montreal’s historic Milton Parc neighbourhood. Recognized as one of the largest co-operative rehabilitation projects completed in Canada, the Milton Parc housing project (1979-1982) renovated over 135 historic buildings and 597 dwelling units within Milton Parc’s 6-block radius. The fonds consists of the following materials: approximately 600 drawings, 85 l.m. of textual records, 0.6 l.m. of slides, 0.6 l.m.of photographs, 8 posters, 3 seals, 2 models, 2 rubber stamps, and 2 audio cassettes.

This project series documents the plano de Doedijnstraat, the residential settlement in Schilderswijk, The Hague, The Netherlands. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 63/80. The office assigned the date 1989 for this project. In 1993 Siza was awarded the Berlage Prize for this residential project of 238 flats. The project was part of an urban renewal program in The Hague for which Siza had already worked on other projects: the urban plan for Deelgebied Zone 5, Schilderswijk-West and Punt en Komma social housing; the housing and shopping complex in Schilderswijk; and the Van der Vennepark. Documenting this project are sketches, studies, elevations, plans and details. Textual documentation includes correspondence, such as letters to and from Siza, letters to Jeoron Geurst (from the associated architectural firm Geurst & Schulze architekten), and letters to and from project architect Carlos Castenheira. Furthermore, there is correspondence to and from members of the Woningbouwvereniging and several letters from Ing. J. van Gulik (project leader). Other documentation includes cost estimates and meeting minutes. Also included in this project series are negatives, photographs and slides documenting the model, site and various dwellings.
