Projet
AP018.S1.1975.PR07
Description:
This project series documents the design of a residence for Mr. Charles Taylor and his wife in North York, Ontario in 1975. The office identified the project number as 7513. This project consisted of two schemes for the home, both of which included a swimming pool, tennis courts and visitor parking. The first scheme showed a layout built on a diagonal axis in a zigzagging U-shape and the second had a more classic layout, arranged in an L-shape. It is unclear from the materials if this project was ever built. The project is recorded through drawings and correspondence dating from 1975. The drawings include sketches, sections and floor plans recording both proposed schemes.

Description:
Emilie Knappert commissioned De Vonk Holiday Hostel as a home for working class girls – a project undertaken with the support of the charitable cooperation of the Vereeniging Buitenbedrijf foundation. Oud was recommended for the design by architect, H.P. Berlage, who was unable to undertake the commission. Oud worked with existing designs to systematize and streamline the existing plans and to create a highly symmetrical building. Contemporaries viewed the building as exemplifying the aesthetic of monumentality. The design was conceived of, collaboratively, with artists Van Doesburg and Harm Kamerlingh Onnes (Taverne et al. 2001, 139-143). The project series includes photographs of the window designed by Onnes and of the entrance with the tiled floor, designed by Van Doesburg.

Description:
This project series documents the "Babele" Tavolo, a table design by Pettena in 1967 and produced in 1968 by Gufram, an Italian seat and furniture manufacturer based in Barolo. "A sculpture that has become a stand for objects: it consists of a tree (with a marble base and metal trunk) whose leaf-shelves in lacquered wood can be placed in any position." [1] The table was designed in the context of designing furnishings for Pettena's studio-home in Florence. The project series contains a sketch showing different configurations of the table and its components, drawings, photographs and project descriptions in Italian and in English.
