Description:
The project series documents "About Non-conscious Architecture", a series of photographs thought as a catalogue of natural geographical features, seen by Pettena as "architecture not made by architects" [1]. The catalogue was built during Pettena's travels in the United States, between 1972 and 1973, and includes landscapes of Utah and the Great Salt Lake area and Monument Valley in Arizona. The project was also presented in the form of a film at the 1973 Milan Triennale. The project series contains the photographs taken during research travels for the project selection, including behind the scene photographs, and final photographs series of "non-conscious" architecture. AP207.S1.2012.PR06
Description:
The project series documents the installation "Human Wall", designed by Pettena for the Galleria Enrico Fornello in Milan in 2012. The installation consists of a wall made of handmade balls of clay on which the handprints from making the clay balls intentionally remain. "The physicality and action of constructing is also accentuated here by the use of a natural material, clay, whose malleability and lack of homogeneity in themselves generate architecture, an architecture that can however be directed toward a mental use of space." [1] Another edition of this installation was presented at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in Salt Lake City in 2012. The project series contains drawings showing the construction of the installation and photographs of the installation. Description:
The project series documents "Stanza", an installation presented in the exhibition "Beneaugurando" at the Galleria Megapoli, in Milan in 1987. The installation consists of a tent made of white gauze built in the gallery. "Only the openings made at the four corners, at the junctions of the four walls, permitted entry into a quadrangular space with a ceiling in the form of a low pyramid, where there was continuity between the walls and ceiling as in a cave." [1] This installation was also presented in the exhibition "Sistemi binari 1" at the Galleria Neon Campobase, in Bologna in 2008. The project series contains a sketch for the installation and promotional material from the Galleria Megapoli about the installation, including a press release and a promotional card.
