Sophia was born at Hamilton on the 5th day of July, 1832, and died in England in 1917. She began her Journal at the age of thirteen and it is the most detailed document so far discovered of the life of her father Sir Allan Napier Macnab, who was born at Newark (Niagara-on-the-Lake) February 19th, 1798, and died in Dundurn Castle on August 9th, 1862."--Preface.
