Résumé:

"The Art Deco style of design and decoration reached its peak between the two world wars. Today, it is valued especially for its purity and vitality. The famous Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels held in Paris in 1925 displayed the distinctive new work of designers of many nations and was instrumental in spreading the new style across Europe and America in virtually all branches of art and design. This beautiful and comprehensive book has been edited by the leading authority on Art Deco. Whether you are viewing the lobby of a great theater like the Radio City Music Hall or admiring a small statuette or a fine piece of jewelry, this volume will help you to understand and appreciate Art Deco in its many manifestations. Richly illustrated with photographs in full color and black and white, the book includes biographies of the most important artists and designers in the Art Deco style. There are also explanations of their techniques."--from the inside front flap.
