Upon the reopening of the magnificently renovated Kaisersaal, the Museum für Fotografie der Kunstbibliothek holds an exhibition of hidden treasures from the collections of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. From the beginning, architectural photography was represented in several collections: bamboo huts and ancient ruins in the Ethnologisches Museum, pyramids in the Ägyptisches Museum, photos of Indian mosques in the Museum für Asiatische Kunst, and pictures of buildings of classical modernity in the Kunstbibliothek. Previously known only to experts, the photographs shown in this catalog of the exhibit "Ein neuer Blick" illustrate in 18 chapters the rich variety of the collections, analyse the complex medial work with the photographs, and attempt a non-canonical history of architectural photography.
