In the last years the volume of urban interventions along waterfronts has been such that these projects have become a particular type of design. In the United States the promotional organization "Waterfront Center (TWC)" has been functioning since 1981 rescuing, revitalizing and intervening waterfront areas in diverse cities to incorporate them into public spaces. The present book comprises twenty-nine of the most important projects on urban design and landscape in the world, including 10 Latin American projects, illustrated with rare high quality photographs, and general plans and details. Developed with documentary rigor of its research by architect, Angela Maria Franco Calderon, the texts accompanying publication realize the main features of each of the examples, but also help in structuring and understanding of the subject by introducing each chapter with text highlighting the importance of each of the four themes the book explores: the conversion of ports and industrial areas, the linear parks, environmental restoration and future agenda.
