Series 3, Academic works, 1995 - 2011, relates to Bernard Cache’s work as a scholar and author. This series includes born-digital material and chiefly dates from 1999 to 2007. Cache pursued and academic career, teaching and lecturing at many universities while also publishing books and articles. His area of interest revolves around computational architecture, geometrics, history of geometric, stereotomy, engineering and philosophy. These records depict his investment in the study of the relation between ancient theory and the field of computational architecture drawings with CAD or BIM software. His work concentrates on prominent figures such as Greek mathematician Euclid to Roman architect Vitruvius and German painter and theorist Albrecht Dürer. Materials in this series reflect Bernard Cache’s work as a scholar. This includes notes for his articles and lectures as well as drafts for different lectures and texts. It also contains syllabi and planning materials for classes given by Cache on Non-Standard Design and Production in Architecture. The CCA's Rohault de Fleury collection includes two of Georges' historical and archeological studies of medieval Italian architecture: 'Les Monuments de Pise au Moyen', 1866 (DR1974:028:001:066) and 'La Toscane au Moyen Age Lettres sur L' Architecture Civile et Militaire en 1400' 2 vols.,1874 (DR1974:0002:039 and DR1974:0002:040). 'Monuments de Pise au Moyen Age' is an atlas consisting solely of 66 prints of Pisan architecture, sculpture, and painting. The section on architecture is the largest, and is divided into three sections for the Lombard, Roman, and Gothic periods. The accompanying text, and an identical atlas of prints, is located in the CCA library. 'La Toscane au Moyen Age Lettres...' is a history of Tuscan civil and military architecture to 1400. The text is in the form of a fictitious correspondence between Raimond du Temple, a famous architect of the Louvre under Charles V, and his son Charles who is traveling through Tuscany. The text is accompanied by photomechanical illustrations, mostly sketches of scenes from bas-reliefs and manuscripts, and a few of built structures. The CCA library has two sets of a related publication entitled 'La Toscane au Moyen Age architecture civile et militaire' 2 vols. These earlier and larger publications are probably the source for some of the text and plates of 'La Toscane au Moyen Age Lettres...'. The introductory remarks, to 'La Toscane au Moyen Age Lettres..' and to the text (CCA library) of the 'Monuments de Pise au Moyen Age' are particularly informative as they provide an insight into Georges Rohault de Fleury's interpretation of historical periods of artistic renewal, decline, and decadence, and their didactic relationship to contemporary architectural and religious concerns.

This project series documents Minimum Cost Housing Group's human settlement study in developping countries, mainly in India and in China, in the 1970s and 1980s. The project led to three publications series "How the Other Half Builds" (Volume 1: Space (1984), Volume 2: Plots (1986) and Volume 3: The Self-Selection Process (1990)). A series of audio-visual training packages entitled "Human Settlements Training Packages" was also produced in relation with this study. They produced a total of six series comprised of slides and audio cassettes that provide new ideas for planning low-income housing and low-cost technologies. The production of these training packages is based on years of field work in China and in India, and research in collobaration with the Vastu-Shilpa Foundation in Ahmedabad, India. The material in this project series was produced between 1985 and 1993. The files contain a large collection of slides of the training packages, guides for the slide show presentations, and various textual records related to the production of the training packages. The project series also comprises correspondence with the Vastu-Shilpa Foundation and sketchbooks with study drawings of housing mainly in India, possibly by Vikram Bhatt. The file also includes textual records related to the production of the publications series "How the Other Half Builds", as well as proofs for the publications and the final version of the books.

The three portfolios of "Croquis", originally attributed to Hubert Rohault de Fleury, but probably also including work by Charles, are particularly informative of the range of artistic and architectural interests of these architects. While some of the drawings in these portfolios may be travel sketches or based on travel sketches (Charles is known to have visited some of the locations depicted (1)), the majority are probably copied or adapted from books and prints. In some cases, these sources have been identified. The stylistic range of the drawings is eclectic; in addition to the expected Classical material, Gothic, Romanesque, Islamic, Exotic Revival (namely Etruscan and Egyptian), Renaissance and Baroque periods and styles as well as contemporary 19th century architecture are all represented. The subject matter is equally varied. DR1974:0002:032:001-066, two portfolios, includes arabesque ornament (some from Palazzo del Te and Palazzo Ducal in Mantua (2)), Islamic ornament motifs, tile patterns, Sicilian architectural subjects - mainly church interiors, and stonework and woodwork from Romanesque and Gothic structures . DR1974:0002:031:001-055, three portfolios, contains drawings of classical figures, Christian imagery and architectural sculpture from antique, medieval [?] and 19th century sources, sculpture from the 16th century sepulchral monument of Maximillian I, Italian Classical structures and contemporary classically-inspired subject matter including a number of Parisian fountains and monuments, and several English townhouses. DR1974:0002:030:001-065, four portfolios, includes drawings of Classical, Gothic and Exotic Revival buildings and interiors as well as a number of drawings of non-architectural subject matter including military subjects - fortification, armaments, soldiers, and revolutionary battle scenes - and topographic views. The Professional papers series, circa 1950-2008, records the professional activities of Aditya Prakash throughout his career up until his death in 2008. His work in architecture, art, photography, academia and theatre are documented through textual records, drawings, photographic materials, ephemera, books, serials and sound recordings. The earliest materials in this series show Prakash’s interest in architectural photography early in his career through photographs, slides, and negatives taken by him. These materials, dating from before 1970, show most prominently his projects, people, villages and cityscapes. Materials dating from after 1968 show Prakash’s move into academia and his solo architectural career. During this time, the records document Prakash’s research interests on subjects such as urbanization, Chandigarh, the Modular and the environment, through drawings, newspaper articles, government and committee reports, correspondence and presentation materials. Likewise, his teaching is recorded through overhead transparencies, drawings and notes. The series also shows Prakash’s involvement in the professional community, including event photographs, correspondence and records documenting conferences, events and his discussion group Our Get Togethers. Correspondence with architect Charles Correa and frequent letters between Prakash and writer Mulk Raj Anand are of note here. Apart from his architectural career, Prakash’s work as a modern artist is well recorded through drawings, sketchbooks, and photographic reproductions of his art, mostly dating from after 1980. His interest in art as well as his community involvement are documented through exhibition ephemera, correspondence, and exhibition reviews and writings on his artwork. His role as the president of the Lalit Kala Akademi is also documented through publications, event photographs and correspondence. Finally, Prakash’s involvement in theatre, specifically with his amateur theatre troop Abhinet, is captured through scripts, photographs of performances and play reviews.
