The Ernest Isbell Barott fonds, 1912-1983, documents architect Ernest Isbell Barott’s design and construction of over 380 built projects in Canada. The fonds comprises of materials relating to projects executed by Ernest Isbell Barott during his active years at the firm, 1912-1962, as well as projects exclusively completed by the firm after Barott’s retirement, 1962-1983. Materials in this fonds consist of approximately 11 764 drawings (including reprographic copies), approximately 1795 photographic materials, 8.75 l.m. of textual records, 4 medals, and 1 key.

Description:
The project series documents the two Sociópolis projects for the account of the Instituto Valenciano de Vivienda. The firm identified this project as number 162. The first project was for two communes (2003); a retirement centre and a youth centre. Both communes would have lived together around a shared vegetable garden. Abalos & Herreros worked with the landscaping architect Teresa Galí. The project was not built. The second project was for an apartment tower in Valencia, Spain (2004-2005). It was built by Abalos + Sentkiewicz after the dissolution of Abalos & Herreros in 2008. Documenting the project are conceptual drawings, presentation documents, dummies, project descriptions, correspondence, digital, photographic and reference materials.

Le fonds est principalement constitué de documents photographiques de natures et de formats différents illustrant 12 projets de génie civil et autres constructions au Québec, en Ontario, au Nouveau-Brunswick, à Terre-Neuve, au Sri Lanka et en Algérie réalisés par la compagnie Atlas entre 1948 et 1987. On y retrouve des épreuves noir et blanc, quelques-unes en couleurs et des diapositives. Au total, le nombre de documents photographiques est évalué à 3 553 items qui étaient à l'origine répartis dans 28 albums. Le fonds comprend aussi 139 reproductions de plans (cyanotypes) et des documents textuels se rapportant à quelques-uns des projets. Enfin, plusieurs publications ayant appartenu à Victor Landriault et relatives aux activités de l'entreprise ou aux techniques de construction, ainsi que quelques souvenirs que le donateur a conservés de l'entreprise, viennent compléter le fonds.

Ces projets sont principalement concentrés dans quatre régions du Québec.
